Best Time To Visit Cyprus

The holiday island of Cyprus sits in the eastern end of the Mediterranean, tempting visitors with its warm climate and beautiful beaches. As with any part of the world, some would suggest that it is best to visit Cyprus at particular times of the year.

Temperatures in Cyprus rise quickly during the summer months, making this a sun lovers paradise between June and September. With the hot temperatures come lots of tourists, meaning that beaches and resorts can get very crowded.

Such conditions aren't perfect for everyone, although many holiday-makers do come to the island specifically to experience the hot, dry summer months.

Since the locals are used to higher temperatures, Cyprus is well prepared for the heat and most hotels are kept cool with air conditioning.

You will notice, however, that even Cypriots avoid the hottest part of the day. Following their lead is not a bad idea and many visitors do opt for a midday siesta, or a long lunch in a shady spot, to avoid the sun at its worst.

If you decide to take a dip in a swimming pool or in the sea to avoid the heat then don't forget to constantly re-apply suntan lotion - too many visitors fall prey to sunburn.

In Ayia Napa the hot daytime temperatures have slightly less effect for many visitors, who are really concentrating on the nightlife. The summer months are undoubtedly the best for those seeking sun, bars and nightclubs.

For those looking for a quieter time, Spring and Autumn both see nice temperatures on the island, without things getting unbearable.

You'll also find that Cyprus is far less busy in May and late September than it is in high season.
